Westchester County Social Services Giveaway Campaign Aims To Make Sure Older Children And Teens Don’t Feel Left Out – CBS New York

WHITE PLAINS, NY (CBSNewYork) – During the holiday season, the mission for some is to make sure that every child has a gift to open.

Finding toys for kids is easy, but older kids can feel left out. Westchester County authorities are ensuring this does not happen.

The most popular toy collecting giveaway is the stuffed animal, but the Westchester Social Services Department’s giveaway collection covers children up to the age of 18.

Barbara Sabater of Westchester County Social Services started the program 16 years ago. She helps 400 children in foster care and 400 others in homeless shelters. The greatest need is for adolescents.

Shopping for teens can be intimidating, but keep in mind how they interact with the world. For less than $ 50, you can get Bluetooth headphones or even Bluetooth headphones. Every teenager needs a pocket charger, but they also like to share their music with a portable speaker. Holidays can be special for children of all ages.

For under $ 50, you can find something handy, like a tumbler to keep their drink cool or a jewelry box or video streaming device. Maybe you will find something fun like a mini drone or a mini basketball hoop or even a jellyfish lamp.

The gift does not concern the material thing. It is about positive emotions and spreading joy, even if it is anonymous.
